Reigning World Cup silver medalists France faced Austria in the first round of the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage, in Dusseldorf, and won 1-0.
Austria and Borussia Monchengladbach defender Maximilian Wober scored an own goal in the 38th minute.
France are second in group D. The current leaders in this group are the Netherlands, who had defeated Poland 2-1 in their first match.
