Mourinho wants to take helm at a national squad

Jose Mourinho, who was sacked from Roma, wants to coach a national squad.

The Portuguese football specialist plans to resume coaching in the summer.

"The door was opened for me to go to the [Portuguese] national team on two occasions. The first was when I was at Real Madrid. But [Real Madrid president] Florentino [Perez] told me that it was not possible to combine both positions. The second was a few months before I was fired from Roma. But I do not regret.

“To coach a national team is an objective for me. Maybe right before World Cup, Euros or the Copa America, African Cup…

I can, yes. But waiting two years for that, I don’t know!," Mourinho told Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

During his coaching career, Mourinho has managed Benfica, Leiria, Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Roma.
