Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan was defeated in his opening bout in the +92kg category at the Olympic ranking boxing tournament being held in Italy.
His opponent was Alexis Barriere (Canada), who won 4-1.
Among the other representatives of Armenia, Rudolf Garboyan (51 kg), Gurgen Madoyan (71 kg), Artur Bazeyan (57 kg), and Rafayel Hovhannisyan (80 kg) won their first fights in this tournament.
In the women's competition, Tatevik Khachatryan (54 kg) and Elida Kocharyan (60 kg) lost and were eliminated from the tournament.
The boxers who reach the semifinals in this tournament will book Olympic spots.
