European Weightlifting Championships: Armenia’s Hripsime Khurshudyan retires with bronze medal (PHOTOS)

Hripsime Khurshudyan won the last medal of her sports career at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships being held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

After a six-year hiatus in her sports career, Armenia's leading weightlifter in the women's 87kg category was again in the battle of the strongest, and she became a bronze medalist for the second year in a row.

Khurshudyan lifted a combined weight of 227 kg (105+122).

Hripsime Khurshudyan, the 2016 European champion, the 2023 European bronze medalist, and the mother of two children, thanked the fans with tears and left the stage.

Tatev Hakobyan, the second representative of Armenia in this weight class, finished fourth, with 227 kg (103+124).

The European Weightlifting Championships being held in Sofia are a ranking for qualification for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. 

Team Armenia has already won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the European championships in Sofia.
