Haaland breaks Mbappe's Champions League record

Thanks to the goal he scored against Leipzig in the penultimate round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Manchester City's Norwegian star striker Erling Haaland broke the age record set by PSG's French star striker Kylian Mbappe, becoming the youngest (23 years and 130 days) footballer to score 40 goals in the Champions League, reports ESPN.

Also, Haaland was the fastest to net these 40 goals in the Champions League. It took him just 35 matches for that.

The previous record holder was the Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had scored 40 goals in 45 appearances in the Champions League.
