Leader of the Armenian national team, bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics, three-time European champion, three-time bronze medalist of the World Boxing Championships, Hovhannes Bachkov (63.5kg) faced Jose Manuel Viafara (Colombia) in the quarterfinals of the IBA Men's World Boxing Championships being held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, won convincingly by a score of 5-0, and secured at least a bronze medal.
In his previous bout, the Armenian boxer from Gyumri had defeated Bilge Kagan Kanli (Turkey), also by a score of 5-0.
