Karen Khachanov: I came to the Olympic Games to fulfill my childhood dream

Russia’s representative Karen Khachanov shared his impressions after defeating Spanish tennis player Pablo Careno-Busta in the semi-final of the men’s solo at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo and scoring a pass to the final.

“I revenged since I had been defeated by the Spanish tennis player this year. I’m very happy that I was able to defeat him. I secured a medal and will compete for the gold. I have been asked many times about the Olympic Games and medals. I have come here to fulfill my childhood dream, that is, to play at the Olympic Games. When I would make plans, playing at the Olympic Games was among the first things to do. I came to compete for medals, and I succeeded,” Khachanov said, the Russian Match TV cites.

German tennis player Alexander Zverev, who defeated world’s first racket, Serbian Novak Djokovic on July 30, will be the opponent of Khachanov, who at least secured a silver medal at the Olympics.

In the first round of Tokyo 2020, Khachanov defeated Japan’s representative Yoshihito Nishioka (3-6, 6-1, 6-2), Australian James Duckworth in the second round (7-5, 6-1), Argentine Diego Schwartzman in the third round (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) and French Ugo Humbert in the quarter-final (7-6, 4-6, 6-3).
