FC Alashkert left out of UEFA Europa League

Yerevan’s FC Alashkert failed to pass the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. During the sole match, Yeghishe Melikyan’s team played with Macedonia’s Renova and was defeated with a minimum score.

Alashkert could have moved forward very quickly, but they lost the moment of a real goal at the first minute of the match. First, after Tiago Galvao’s strike, Renova’s goalkeeper thwarted the ball, and Perdigao failed to score a goal. In the beginning of the match, Alashkert had a noticeable advantage in terms of space and game, and the Macedonian team was rarely approaching the opponent’s gateway.

The first dangerous moment for Renova was at the 16th minute when Ognjen Cancarevic saved Alashkert from a goal.

In the middle of the match, Alashkert wasn’t at a great advantage either. Renova gradually began to have control over the ball and attacked. There were no goals. At the end of the first half, the Armenian football club still had total control, but weren’t able to break the opponent’s defense. The first half ended 0-0.

In the beginning of the second half, Renova scored the first goal at the 57th minute. Renova didn’t face difficulties with defense and sometimes counterattacked. Time was passing, and Alashkert weren’t able to score goals. At the end of the match, the attacks of the Armenian team were similar, and the team failed to pose a serious risk to the opponent, which had a large number of defenders. Armenia’s multiple champion was left behind, even though it was a favorite during this competition.

There will be only one match for the first qualifying round.

Earlier, Yerevan’s FC Noah were also left out of the UEFA Europa League after being defeated by Kayrat 1-4 in Almaty.
