FC Barcelona Sporting Director Eric Abidal has confirmed that the Catalan club are in talks with strikers Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati to extend their contracts.
"The extension of the contract with Messi depends on his position," Mundo Deportivo quoted Abidal as saying.
"But I hope that for Barcelona, everything will be successful. I can't say anything about the term of the contract. It all depends on Messi's decision. We are also negotiating with Fati. He is a young player that we must protect. We need to discuss everything with his family. Now Fati wants to focus on football."
The Catalan club want to sign a long-term contract with 16-year-old Fati to set his transfer price at €100 million.
