There is wonderful, practical atmosphere in the squad – Armenian national footballer

YEREVAN. – Armenia’s national football team played two friendly matches in Cyprus against Serbia and Canada. And NEWS.am Sport held an interview with the national squad’s and Ukraine’s FC Metalurh Donetsk’s player, Karlen Mkrtchyan. Below is an excerpt from the interview:  

By playing with an experimental makeup, our team lost in the game against the Serbs. What is your view of our team’s performance?

You have correctly noticed that we played with an experimental makeup. Despite the defeat, I believe the team played that game well. The squad was playing for the first time with such makeup. In any case, our team fought until the end.

Do you share the view that our national team has good reserves?

Yes. It is not in vain that all the footballers who played in that game are considered candidates for the [national] team. After some time many of them will already knock on the door of the [national] squad. 

And what is your opinion on the Armenia-Canada game?

The win in this game was very important for me. A win always brings confidence to the team. We won by a score of 3-1, but we could have won with a larger score. There truly is a wonderful and a practical atmosphere in our squad. And in this way we will gradually approach the World Cup qualifications.
