Levon Aronian thanks Armenian fans

Levon Aronian thanked Armenian fans who came to support him during the matches of Alexander Alekhine Memorial chess tournament held in Paris and Saint Petersburg.

After the final round of the tournament, Aronian has 5.5 points from a possible 9 points.

GM Boris Gelfand of Israel has 5.5 points, but Aronian is ahead of Gelfand on additional points.  

During a post-match press conference, Aronian said psychological preparedness is very important.

“I thought that I would be very tired after the London tournament, but I could not miss such a great competition. I am grateful to all Armenian fans. It is important to feel a connection with the homeland. For me – it is a big support,” he said.
