The Spanish LaLiga match between Girona and Barcelona will not be held in the United States.
With a formal statement, Barça have announced their withdrawal from the plans to play this game in North America.
“The FC Barcelona Board of Directors have agreed to withdraw their disposal to play their game against Girona FC in Miami, after noting a lack of consensus over this proposal,” the respective statement reads, in particular.
“FC Barcelona were and remain willing to play a LaLiga game in Miami, (…), but consider that this project will not prosper until there is an agreement between all parties.”
The Girona vs. Barcelona clash was slated for January 27, in Miami.
But the Royal Spanish Football Federation, FIFA, and the other LaLiga clubs were against this initiative.
