Danny Welbeck on Mkhitaryan injury: With the goals yesterday I’ve staked my claim

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck wished Henrikh Mkhitaryan a speedy recovery, announcing his intention to take hold in the starting lineup.

“We all wish him a speedy recovery. Hopefully he is available as soon as possible but it is the manager’s decision who he wants in the team,” the Standard reported quoting Welbeck. 

“Obviously, with the goals yesterday I’ve staked my claim. It was decent to get a couple of goals and the assist. The miss, it isn’t like I wanted to miss. I just couldn’t stretch enough to get there,” said Arsenal forward.

As reported earlier, Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-2, while Danny Welbeck scored two goals. Armenian National team forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed the match because of the injury.
