South Korea president declares 2018 Winter Olympics open

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has officially declared the XXIII Olympic Winter Games—in Pyeongchang, South Korea—open.

The 2018 Winter Olympics’ opening ceremony and respective parade on Friday were followed by a ceremony with the participation of officials.

First, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach delivered an address, and, subsequently, South Korean President Moon Jae-in declared the Winter Games open.
Afterward, the Olympic torch was lit.

Armenia will be represented at PyeongChang 2018 by cross-country skiers Mikayel Mikayelyan and Katya Galstyan and alpine skier Ashot Karapetyan.

A total of 102 medals will be up for grabs this year in 15 events.
