Armenia’s Aronian, Mkrtchian compete in European Chess Club Cup

Armenia’s Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian, and International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM) Lilit Mkrtchian are participating in the 2016 European Chess Club Cup which is held in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—is heading the men’s OR Padova (Italy) team, informed the Chess Federation of Armenia website.

Mkrtchian is playing in the women’s “Ugra” Chess Club (Russia).

Seven rounds will be held in this tournament.

A total of 62 teams are taking part in the men’s event, whereas 14 teams are participating in the women’s competition.
