The Iceland national football team have returned to their country, where they were met with a warm reception.
Several dozen thousands of people gathered in the streets of capital city Reykjavik to welcome their squad that had made it all the way to the quarterfinals in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which France is hosting.
A grand concert was also held at the central park of the city.
In the round of 16 in Euro 2016, Iceland had beat England by a score of 2-1, but in the quarterfinals, they were defeated by the host nation, France, by a score of 2-5, and eliminated from the rest of the competition.
Iceland had participated in this European Championship for the first time in nation’s history.
