Armenian chess Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian was in attendance to Monday evening’s Euro 2016 football qualifier, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, between Armenia and Denmark, and which ended in a goalless draw.
Armenia’s top GM was accompanied by his girlfriend Arianne Caoili, who likewise is a chess master, as well as fellow GMs Robert Hovhannisyan and Hrant Melkumyan.
“Enjoyed watching Armenians taking points from Scandinavians with a couple of unknown GMs, fans, and friends from the ‘special fan section,’” Aronian commented on his Facebook account, and also posted several respective photographs.
Levon Aronian has won the 2015 Sinquefield Cup chess super tournament, which was held recently in St. Louis, USA.
