Armenia’s Hovhannisyan misses Riga championship title on tiebreak

Grandmaster (GM) Robert Hovhannisyan representing Armenia has recorded an excellent result in the open chess tournament that wrapped up in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. 

Hovhannisyan garnered 7.5 points from 9 points possible, and shared first and second places with GM Alexei Shirov (Latvia).

But the Armenian GM had to settle for second place after the tiebreak.

GM Hrant Melkumyan (Armenia), on the other hand, came in fifth with 6.5 points, informed the Chess Federation of Armenia.
