FC Zenit Saint Petersburg (Russia) midfielder Artyom Simonyan, who made his debut for the Armenia national football squad in their friendly against France on Tuesday, spoke to Sportsdaily about his first impressions.
“I learned the news about being in Armenia’s starting lineup in the match against France on the day of the match.
“I was very proud, but I didn’t feel a nervous tension. After the game, [Armenia manager] Bernard Challandes said he was pleased with my performance.
“Despite the result, the match against the French national team was a great experience for me.
“The Armenia national squad are a consolidated team. When the leading players join the team, we will achieve better results,” Simonyan specifically told Sportsdaily.
