YEREVAN. - I would not like my wife to be a world or European champion. Women can be athletes, but let they must leave weightlifting, boxing and sports for men, bronze medalist of London Olympics, Greco-Roman wrestler Arthur Aleksanyan said in an interview with NEWS.am Sport.
"The role of women in sport is truly enormous. Personally, I like it when a woman is in sport world, but I am not impressed when an Armenian woman chooses sports as a profession. The role of Armenian women in sport is great, but I appreciate their role in sports which are suitable for women.
I am not married yet, but I'm sure when I find my woman, she will not belong to the world of sports. I would not like my wife to be a world or European champion. Let the women play sports, but let them leave weightlifting, boxing and sports for men,” Arthur Aleksanyan said.
