Armenian national team footballer heads to Ukraine

YEREVAN. – Armenian national football team and capital city Yerevan’s FC Banants midfielder Hovhannes Hambardzumyan headed to Ukraine on Tuesday, for a tryout at FC Metalurh Donetsk, Banants’ official website informs.   

Hambardzumyan, 22, was a pupil at Banants’ junior academy, and he is regularly invited to Armenia’s national squad in recent times.      

As for FC Banants, the club started training Monday for the second half of the current season of the Armenian league. The team held its first training session after a one-month rest.

Banants will train in Yerevan until January 20. Its first training camp is slated from January 21 to February 3 in Cyprus. In all likelihood, FC Banants will head to its second training camp on February 12, and again in Cyprus.
