Argentina won Messi's farewell match, the 39-year-old footballer scored a goal

The Argentina national team won the farewell match for their captain, Lionel Messi. Led by Lionel Scaloni, the team defeated Benin 3–0 in a friendly match held in Buenos Aires.

Nicolas Otamendi, Nico Paz, and Messi, who successfully converted a penalty, all made their mark on the game. The 39-year-old footballer also provided two assists.

Messi had been playing for the national team since August 2005, scoring 125 goals and providing 68 assists in 208 matches, while becoming a World Champion and a two-time Copa America winner.
