Musiala and Havertz have sustained injuries while with the German national team

The 27-year-old forward for English club Arsenal Kai Havertz and the 23-year-old midfielder for German club Bayern Munich Jamal Musiala have sustained muscle injuries while with the German national team—which had played out a 1–1 draw against the Netherlands in the first round of the Nations League group stage.

Musiala suffered a thigh muscle injury during warm-ups, while Havertz is dealing with a muscle strain, the German Football Association's press service reports. Both players have returned to their clubs.

To replace them, Germany head coach Jurgen Klopp has called up 23-year-old Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz and 26-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt forward Jonathan Burkardt to the squad ahead of schedule.

In the second round of the Nations League, the German national team will host Greece on September 27.
