The Armenian women's national team secured its fourth victory at the 46th World Chess Olympiad taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. In the fifth round, the Armenian chess players defeated the Peruvian team with a score of 3–1.
Woman Grandmaster Mariam Mkrtchyan and Anahit Mkrtchyan claimed victories.
Woman International Master Lilit Mkrtchyan and Grandmaster Elina Danielian each scored half a point.
The Armenian team drew (2–2) its match against the Chinese team, which holds the fourth seed at the Olympiad.
Hayk Martirosyan drew against the 17th World Champion Ding Liren, Robert Hovhannisyan against Wei Yi, Shant Sargsyan against Yu Yangyi, and Manuel Petrosyan against Kong Xiangrui.
After five rounds, the Armenian national team has earned 4.5 match points, while the women's team has earned 4 match points.
The Olympiad will consist of 11 rounds.
