Arman Tsarukyan (Armenia), the No. 2-ranked title contender in the lightweight division of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) defeated the 10th-ranked Brazilian fighter Mauricio Ruffy at the UFC 331 event in Los Angeles.
In the final seconds of the first round, Tsarukyan pinned his opponent against the cage and knocked him out with elbow strikes.
Prior to the fight, Tsarukyan had stated that a victory over Ruffy would lead to a title fight early next year.
The reigning UFC champion in this weight class is American fighter Justin Gaethje.
