31-year-old German midfielder Leon Goretzka has joined Europa League winners Aston Villa as a free agent, the English club's website reports.
"The midfielder, who has made over 500 appearances, began his career at his hometown club Bochum before moving to Schalke. In 2018, he signed with Bayern Munich, where he became a seven-time Bundesliga champion. Welcome, Leon," Aston Villa's statement reads.
Goretzka left Bayern this summer after spending eight years at the club. He made 312 appearances for the Munich side. Goretzka has also played 73 matches for the German national team.
Transfermarkt values Goretzka at €12 million.
