European champion Artur Avetisyan and the other medalists were welcomed at Zvartnots

Last night, fans and representatives of the sports community welcomed newly crowned European champion Artur Avetisyan at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport.

At 05:55 on August 25, the Armenian national artistic gymnastics team returned to Armenia from Croatia via the Zagreb-Istanbul-Yerevan flight. Returning with the team were Artur Avetisyan - who won the first gold medal in the rings event since Albert Azaryan - as well as silver medalist Hamlet Manukyan and bronze medalist Mamikon Khachatryan.

It is worth recalling that Armenia won three medals - gold, silver, and bronze - at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia, from August 19 to 24.

Seventy-one years after Albert Azaryan, Artur Avetisyan became the first to win the title in the rings event, scoring 14.400 points in the final. This marked the first time in his athletic career that Avetisyan was crowned European champion.

Hamlet Manukyan became the runner-up in the pommel horse event (15.500), while Mamikon Khachatryan won the bronze medal (14.900).
