Artur Gharibyan, the 20-year-old Russian forward for Russian Premier League newcomer Rodina, commented on his brace in the match against the champions, Zenit.
In the third round of the Russian championship, Rodina secured a comeback 2–1 victory over Zenit in St. Petersburg. Artur Gharibyan scored both goals after coming on as a substitute.
"We deserved this victory. We have worked hard and overcome difficulties. There was a lot of pressure after two defeats, but in the Russian Cup we defeated Rubin and now Zenit. We will move forward.
All we heard in the locker room at halftime was that the score of 0:1 was not a verdict yet. This victory will give the team strength. What could be better than defeating Zenit?", - Artur Gharibyan was quoted as saying by Match TV.
The head coach of Rodina is the Spaniard Juan Diaz Quinta.
