The Athletic has compiled a list of the top ten footballers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is coming to an end in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Accordingly, Lionel Messi, the 39-year-old star striker of World Cup titleholders Argentina and reigning MLS champions Inter Miami, who has scored 8 goals so far in this tournament, is in first place.
Kylian Mbappe, the 27-year-old striker of 2022 World Cup runners-up France and Real Madrid, who has also netted 8 goals up to now, is second.
And Jude Bellingham, the 23-year-old midfielder of England and Real Madrid, who has scored 6 goals thus far, is third.
