Yamal joins 10 youngest footballers to score goals in World Cups

Lamine Yamal has been included in the top ten youngest footballers to score goals in World Cups, the FIFA website reported.

In the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage, the star winger of reigning European champions Spain and Spanish La Liga titleholders Barcelona scored against Saudi Arabia at the age of 18 years and 343 days.
As a result, Lamine Yamal surpassed Argentine star Lionel Messi.

The aforesaid top ten is as follows:
  1) Pele (Brazil): 17 years and 239 days
  2) Manuel Rosas (Mexico): 18 years and 93 days
  3) Gavi (Spain): 18 years and 110 days
  4) Ibrahim Mbaye (Senegal): 18 years and 143 days
  5) Michael Owen (England): 18 years and 190 days
  6) Nicolae Kovacs (Romania): 18 years and 197 days
  7) Dmitri Sychev (Russia): 18 years and 231 days
  8) Lamine Yamal (Spain): 18 years and 343 days
  9) Lionel Messi (Argentina): 18 years and 357 days
10) Julian Green (USA): 19 years and 25 days
