In the second round match of the World Cup qualifying tournament, the Armenian national team defeated the Irish team 2:1 at the Vazgen Sargsyan “Republican” Stadium in Yerevan (video).
In the first minute of added time of the first half, Russia’s champion “Krasnodar” midfielder Eduard Spertsyan scored from the penalty spot.
The advantage of the team led by Yeghishe Melikyan was doubled in the 51st minute by forward Hrant-Leon Ranos. The assist came from Belgrade “Crvena Zvezda” full-back Nair Tiknizyan.
The visitors reduced the difference in the 57th minute, 2:1. 20-year-old forward Evan Ferguson of Italian “Roma” scored.
In the 88th minute, “Ararat-Armenia” forward Artur Serobyan found the net after Nair Tiknizyan’s pass, but with the VAR’s hint, a minimal offside was registered and the goal was disallowed.
In Group F, the Armenian national team is in second place with 3 points.
In the other match of the group, the Portuguese national team will visit Hungary. That match will kick off at 22:45 Yerevan time.
