Crvena zvezda (Serbia) hosted Pafos (Cyprus) in Belgrade and lost 1-2 in the first leg of the qualifying playoff of the UEFA Champions League. Pafos' Portuguese defender Joao Correia opened the scoring in the first minute of the match.
And in the 52nd minute, Portuguese midfielder Pepe doubled the visitors' goal advantage from the penalty spot. Crvena zvezda's only goal was netted in the 58th minute by Brazilian striker Bruno Duarte.
Armenian national team full-back Nair Tiknizyan played the entire match in the starting lineup of Crvena zvezda. In the other matches of the day, Ferencvaros (Hungary) lost 1-3 at home to Qarabag (Azerbaijan), and Club Brugge (Belgium) beat Glasgow Rangers 3-1 in Scotland. The second legs will be played on August 26.
