Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist, four-time European champion, and four-time world championship bronze medalist boxer Hovhannes Bachkov (Armenia) held a “battle of stares” with Xolisani Ndongeni (South Africa) in Istanbul, Turkey.
Bachkov and Ndongeni on Wednesday will face each other in the 63.5kg weight category at the IBA Pro-7 Champions Night tournament.
Bachkov had made a triumphant return to the professional boxing ring in March after undergoing hand surgery.
At the Paddy’s Day Boxing Show evening in Dubai, organized by Grassroots Boxing, Hovhannes Bachkov had defeated Jose Rivas Bastardo (Venezuela) by knockout in the second round.
The captain of the Armenian national boxing team had won the WBA Continental title.
