The European weightlifting champions, medalists, women's and men's teams of Armenia's were greeted with great fanfare last night at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport.
The weightlifters were greeted with applause and flowers, which were presented to them by the president of the Weightlifting Federation of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister's Office.
Armenia won 10 medals (2 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze) at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships which were held in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, from April 14 to 21.
Armenia’s Varazdat Lalayan and Garik Karapetyan became gold medalists, Aleksandra Grigoryan, Gor Sahakyan, Rafik Harutyunyan, Anna Amroyan, Simon Martirosyan, and Liana Gyurjyan won silver medals. Garnik Cholakyan and Davit Hovhannisyan became bronze medalists.
Men's and women's national teams of Armenia took first place in individual team standings.
Armenia finished third in the overall medal standings.
