The first legs of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals have begun Tuesday.
Spanish La Liga champions and Champions League Cup winners Real Madrid suffered a 0-3 defeat to last season’s English Premier League runners-up Arsenal, in London.
English midfielder Declan Rice scored twice. Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino also netted a goal for the hosts.
Separately, Italian Serie A titleholders Inter Milan beat current German Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich 2-1, in Munich.
Inter’s Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring in the 38th minute.
Bayern’s German striker Thomas Muller netted the equalizer in the 85th minute.
And Italian midfielder Davide Frattesi scored the visitors' winning goal in the 88th minute.
The Armenian national football team’s former captain, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was in the starting lineup for Inter, but was subbed off in the 74th minute.
