Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, 37, who is ranked world No. 2, has reached the third round of the US Open tournament in New York.
In the second round, the defending champion defeated world No. 109 and fellow Serbian Laslo Djere, who retired when the sets were 6:4, 6:4, 2:0. The match lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes.
Djokovic's opponent in the third round will be Alexei Popyrin (Australia), ranked 28th in the world.
The prize fund of the US Open is $75 million.
