In the men's competition, world No. 22 Karen Khachanov (Russia) faced world No. 184 Dan Evans (UK) in the first round, but the Muscovite Armenian lost in five sets—7:6 (8:6), 6:7 (2:7), 6:7 (4:7), 6:4, 4:6. The match lasted 5 hours and 34 minutes. This was the longest match in US Open history.
