Elina Avanesyan, world No. 51 in women’s tennis, is out of the rest of the competition at the Monterrey Open tournament in Mexico.
In the Round of 16, Armenia’s 21-year-old representative lost to world No. 28 Elina Svitolina, as the 29-year-old Ukrainian tennis player won in two sets: 6:4, 6:3.
Svitolina's opponent in the quarterfinals will be world No. 35 Linda Noskova (Czech Republic).
The prize fund of the women’s competition at the Monterrey Open is $922 thousand.
