Olympic Games gold, silver, and bronze medalist, four-time World Champion, and seven-time European Champion Arthur Aleksanyan has become a double Olympic silver medalist.
In the final of the 97 kg weight category of the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, Arthur Aleksanyan lost 1:4 to Mohammad Hadi Saravi, the bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics, World Champion, two-time bronze medalist, Asian Games Champion, and Asian Championship Champion from Iran.
Arthur Aleksanyan started actively in the first round: the referee gave passivity to Saravi, but Aleksanyan could not perform a roll. The opponents went to rest with a score of 1:0 in favor of Arthur Aleksanyan.
In the second round, passivity was given to Arthur Aleksanyan, and he defended very well in parterre without giving a point to his opponent. In the second part of the second round, Saravi pushed Aleksanyan and performed a two-point technique. Arthur Aleksanyan challenged, claiming Saravi used his leg while pushing. The referees did not satisfy the challenge. The score became 1:4 in favor of Saravi.
Arthur Aleksanyan and Mohammad Hadi Saravi were meeting on the mat for the fourth time. In the previous three matches, Arthur Aleksanyan had won. They first wrestled in the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championship, where Aleksanyan won 4:3. Their second match was in the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympic Games, where Aleksanyan won 4:1. Their third match was in the semifinals of the 2022 World Championship, where Aleksanyan won 3:1. In that championship, Arthur Aleksanyan won his fourth World Champion title.
In Paris, Arthur Aleksanyan won the 1/8 final ahead of time with a score of 9:0 against South Korea's representative Sinjun Kim. In the quarterfinals, he won 9:5 in a very tense match against Uzbekistan's Rustam Asakalov. In the semifinals, he defeated World Champion, Pan American Games Champion, Pan American Championship winner, Cuban Gabriel Alejandro Rosillo Kindelan with a score of 5:3.
Arthur Aleksanyan is the bronze medalist of London-2012, the gold medalist of Rio-2016, and the silver medalist of Tokyo-2020.

Born on October 21, 1991, in Gyumri.
His personal coach is his father, Gevorg Aleksanyan.
He started wrestling at the age of 8.
In 2007, he was the bronze medalist of the Black Sea region countries' youth tournament, in 2009, he was the bronze medalist of the World and European Youth Championships, in 2010, he was the silver medalist of the European Youth Championship, and in 2010, he was the gold medalist of the World Youth Championship. In 2011, he was the silver medalist of the European Championship, and in 2013, he was the silver medalist of the World Student Games.
He is the European Champion of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2024; World Champion of 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2022; World silver medalist of 2013, 2019, and 2023; and the champion of the European Games in Minsk in 2019.
He has participated in the Olympic Games in London-2012, Rio-2016, and Tokyo-2020. He is the champion of the Rio Olympic Games, the silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympic Games, and the bronze medalist of the London Olympic Games.
Paris-2024 was Arthur Aleksanyan's 4th Olympic Games.
He has been among Armenia's best athletes since 2011. In 2012, he was awarded the Movses Khorenatsi medal. In 2014, he was awarded the first-degree medal "For Services to the Motherland," and on September 16, 2015, on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day, he was awarded the second-degree order "For Services to the Motherland" for his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.
Since 2016, he has been an honorary citizen of Gyumri and Yerevan.
In 2019, he became an ambassador of UNICEF.
