World champion and three-time European champion Malkhas Amoyan achieved a glorious victory by winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games held in Paris.
In the Greco-Roman wrestling Olympic tournament, in the 77 kg weight category, 25-year-old Malkhas Amoyan competed against Aram Vardanyan, representing Uzbekistan, who is a world silver medalist and Asian Championship bronze medalist, and won with a score of 6:5 (live broadcast).
The competitors hugged at the start of the bout before commencing. In the first period, Amoyan first scored one point by pushing Vardanyan out of the mat. He then had the opportunity to work from the top position and increased the score to 6:0 with a four-point throw.
The competitors went to rest with a score of 6:0 in favor of Amoyan.
In the second period, Aram Vardanyan received one point for activity. Amoyan was placed in the parterre position, and his opponent scored four points.
The bout ended with a beautiful victory for Malkhas Amoyan with a score of 6:5.
The three-time European champion began his journey at his first Olympic Games from the 1/8 finals, where he confidently won 8:0 against Johnny Kunnari Sarkkinen from Finland, the 2021 European junior champion, the 2022 U20 European silver medalist, and the 2023 U23 European champion.
In the quarter-finals, Amoyan defeated Amin Kaviani Nejad from Iran, the Asian Games silver medalist and Asian champion, with a score of 3:0.
In the semi-finals, Amoyan lost 1:3 to Nao Kusaka from Japan, the world bronze medalist and Asian champion.

In 2021, he switched to the Olympic weight category of 77 kg.
