Djokovic becomes Olympic champion

Novak Djokovic, the second ranked men’s tennis player in the world, has become a champion of the Paris Olympic Games.

In the final of the Men’s Singles tournament, the 37-year-old Serbian tennis star competed with the world's third-ranked 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) and won in two sets: 7:6 (7:3), 7:6 (7:2). The match lasted 2 hours and 52 minutes.

Djokovic became an Olympic champion for the first time. In previous Olympic games, he had reached the semifinals three times. 

Alcaraz competed in the Olympic Games for the first time.

Djokovic has become the oldest tennis player to win an Olympic title, at 37 years and 74 days, ever since tennis returned to the Olympic program in 1988.

Also, he repeated the achievements of German Steffi Graf, American Armenian Andre Agassi, American Serena Williams, and Spanish Rafael Nadal, claiming the titles of the Golden Slam: four Grand Slams and the Olympic Games.
