World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games in Women's Singles tennis competition.
In the bronze medal match, the Polish tennis star played against the world's 67th ranked Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Slovakia) and won in two sets: 6:2, 6:1. The match lasted just one hour.
Swiatek became Poland's first medalist in Olympic tennis tournaments.
In the semifinals, she had suffered an unexpected defeat against the 7th ranked player in the world, Zheng Qinwen (China).
