Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of Italian Spanish champion and Champions League winner Real Madrid, said that the royal team will refuse an invitation to the 2025 Club World Cup. The tournament will follow a new format with 32 teams.
"FIFA forgets that clubs and players are not obliged to participate in this tournament. FIFA intends to pay the club 20 million euros for the whole tournament. This is a negative answer. “Real Madrid, like many other clubs, will withdraw from this tournament,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying by Relevo.
The Club World Cup will be held next year in the United States. The tournament will begin on June 15 and conclude on July 13. A number of leading clubs are opposed to the new format.
