Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) drew with Hikaru Nakamura (USA) in Thursday’s 7th round of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament 2024 being held in Toronto, Canada, and leads the current standings, with 4.5 points.
Fabiano Caruana (USA) as well as Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and Dommaraju Gukesh (India) are half a point, each, behind Nepomniachtchi.
Fourteen rounds will be held in the Candidates Tournament, and its winner will vie for the world title against the reigning world champion, Ding Liren (China).
