Karen Khachanov (Russia), the 20th ranked player in the world, has reached the Australian Open quarterfinals.
The Muscovite Armenian tennis player defeated Yoshihito Nishioka (Japan), ranked 33rd in the world, in three sets in the fourth round. The match lasted 2 hours.
Khachanov will for the first time play in the Australian Open quarterfinals, where his opponent will be the American, Sebastian Korda (world No. 31), who beat the Pole, Hubert Hurkacz (world No. 11) in the fourth round.
The prize fund of the Australian Open is $51.3 million.
