Macron supports French national team after final clash

French President Emmanuel Macron supported the French national team after the loss to Argentina in the World Cup final.

'You're an amazing team,' Macron told the players, pounding his fist in his hand for effect in a video posted on his social media channel. 'No other team would have got here and come back on two occasions and being so close to winning it.

'You had the heart, the hunger, the desire and the talent to get here and that's why I wanted to come and say thank you,' he added.

He continued: 'In any case, I am proud of you. Long live the Republic and long live France.'

The dream of the French was very close to coming true. Tonight will be tough, but tomorrow we should be back on the attack. I'm proud of you," Macron said.

The French President also expressed the hope that Didier Deschamps, who has been in charge of the national team for 10 years, will not leave the team.

His contract runs until December 31. Deschamps is expected to extend his partnership until the end of Euro 2024.
