The 23-year-old French striker Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the final of the World Cup, announced his return to the World Cup in a tweet.
Captioned next to a photo of him looking down glumly at his Golden Boot award and with the trophy also in the shot, Mbappe simply declared: "We will return."
In 7 matches of the World Cup, Mbappe scored 8 goals, made 2 assists and won the Golden Boot award for the best scorer of the tournament.
France played in the final of the World Cup for the second time in a row after the 2018 World Cup.
The next championship will be held jointly in the USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
