World Weightlifting Championships: Armenia’s Varazdat Lalayan wins bronze

Armenia won another bronze medal at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships.

Varazdat Lalayan became a bronze medalist in this competition, which wrapped up in the Colombian capital Bogota, by lifting a combined weight of 461 kg in the Men's +109 kg weight class.

Gor Minasyan, the Olympic silver medalist of Armenia who now represents Bahrain, placed second by lifting a combined weight of 462.

And Georgia’s Lasha Talakhadze won the champion’s title in this weight category by lifting a combined weight of 466 kg.

The Armenian men's team, which participated in the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships with 12 weightlifters, had won its medal on Wednesday. European champion Samvel Gasparyan had won the bronze medal, by lifting a combined weight of 389 kg, in the 102 kg weight category.

And Hripsime Khurshudyan recorded the best result among the five representatives of the Armenian women's national team at this competition. After a six-year break, the famous weightlifter and mother of two children finished fourth at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships by lifting a combined weight of 238 kg in her weight category.
