Portugal faced Switzerland in the last match of the Round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and won 6-1 to advance to the World Cup quarterfinals for a third time.
Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos, 21, who started for Portugal for the first time, scored a hat-trick.
Star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, was among Portugal’s substitutes, but he entered the pitch in the 73rd minute.
In their quarterfinal match on Saturday, Portugal will face Morocco, which surprisingly eliminated Spain in their Round of 16 clash earlier in the day.
