Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi welcomed the country's national team to participate in the World Cup, which begins Nov. 20 in Qatar.
The event was also attended by Portuguese head coach Carlos Queiroz of Iran. Players playing abroad did not take part in the match. They will join the team in Doha.
Queiroz was criticized in Portugal for meeting with Iran's president as a gesture of support for Iranian government policies, Portuguese A Bola reported.
In the group stage of the World Cup, Iran will face the United States, England and Wales.
